Humphrey began his career as a baby in a petting zoo that came to Bullride Mania in April 1998. Producer Dave Martin took a liking to the little guy but was told he was not for sale. He was leased for the rodeo season, but had to go back to his owner for his part in the live Nativity tour in December.
The friendly camel was missed on the ranch. After Christmas season, Dave finally got to buy him.
Humphrey greets visitors with a grunt and loves attention. He also loves Mountain Dew in the 2 liter bottles.
Even though camels are supposed to be able to exist without a regular water supply, Humphrey has never been deprived of water.
Some camels have one hump, while others have two. Humphrey is of the one-hump persuasion.
